Advanced Techniques...Round One.

My first assignment for my Advanced Techniques class was the copy test. We were to find two images, one in which the lighting created the mood and the other was to be an image with lighting that baffled us. How did they do it!? I'll find out in lab tomorrow.

Also, I am going to post these first images at a smaller size, because they are copies.

Stump the chump: an image by Jan Grarup from "Shadowland". I feel like the woman in the photo should be engulfed in the shadows as well, but somehow she is illuminated. I think there is something I am missing.

A favorite from tungsten light exploration: Students finish their meals as the dinner ends at Rollins dining hall. Rollins will close in December for a $2.2 million renovation.

Favorite daylight exploration: Mizzou student Beth Haenni takes a break from the weekend's homework to rest under a tree at Stephen's Lake Park.

CrossFit in Delaware Valley.

I went to Pennsylvania last month with Derek, and while I was there we went to his brother's CrossFit affiliate in Delaware Valley. CrossFit is a program in which the exercises are "varied, functional, and intense".

I think intense is a understatement. I didn't work out (because I am a wuss), but I did take some photos. I've mainly been shooting portraits, so it was nice to challenge myself by trying to shoot this as if it was an assignment.

The workout for that day was called "The Filthy Fifty."
For time:
50 Box jump, 24 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball
50 Burpees
50 Double unders

Yep. Once again, intense is an understatement.

Wow, Mallarie and Joe were awesome. They went along with any crazy idea I had, and we all suffered quite a few scratches and bug bites. Not to mention the sweat. Oh, the sweat...

Anyway...these are just a few that I have been working on. I may go back and fix some toning.
