Summer Through a Plastic Lens

Getting film developed from a Holga is always exciting.

120 film is so expensive that the 12 frames of one roll usually last me months; this time they only lasted for part of the summer. I ordered some polaroid film today for my one step land camera, so look forward to seeing that soon.

I hope the rest of the summer proves to be just as lo-fi and wonderful.

Senior Photos: Grace

Grace is my roommate's little sister, and she is gorgeous. A thanks to Tim Rice for reflecting and originally suggesting the fair as a place to photograph me.

Kaylen + Pete

I shot a wedding a couple of weeks ago with Ryan Gladstone, a fellow Mizzou grad. You can see his photos and some more of mine here. Ryan did the tough stuff of choosing locations and etc, while I rode on the party bus and took care of the candids.

Let me tell you, I was in love with the entire wedding party. They made me feel so comfortable that shooting was a breeze. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Weddings Galore

I shot my first wedding last weekend in St. Louis with Ryan Gladstone, but this is not that wedding. These are some images of a wedding I attended as a guest with Doug. I didn't make many photos because I didn't want to step on the toes of the photographer, but I did get a few things I found interesting.

Third Time's the Charm

This was my third shoot with Jackson, who's almost 2 years old now. At this rate, I'll be taking his senior photos! He was a little grumpy, but I got some good faces.

Square crop, I know, I know.

Behbehs

Beth, Doug, Lindsay and Brendan and I went with Tim to see the fireworks display in Jeff City. While we were there, we met the nicest little baby named Adalyn. Thanks to Brendan, baby's going to need an iPhone real soon.

Lens flare, but I like it. Reminds me of this photo from '08.

Happy Third of July!

We celebrated the Fourth a day early with Doug's family and friends in Irondale, Missouri.

We keep it classy.

Meet Me in St. Louis

I've passed through St. Louis before, but I've never really had a chance to explore the city. Doug and I were going to his family's farm for some fireworks, so we left a day early for a chance to see downtown and the loop.

(Also...100th post!)

Bookmobile Jr.

As a part of my summer reporting class at the Missourian, all students need to make a multimedia project. Photojournalism majors were exempt because we've done this in pretty much every class, but since there was an odd number of students, I volunteered to help out.

I did a story about library lockers a couple weeks ago and was interested in outreach program's new bookmobile. I knew the paper was already doing a graphic, but I thought it would be a good idea to show the human aspect. Jiyoung Won, my partner, had no idea what a bookmobile was, but I am glad she went along with my idea. I took video, stills, and edited in Final Cut, and Jiyoung took stills and audio. You can watch the video below and see the full package here.

Do the Doggy Bounce

The Times They Are A Changin'

Reporting is almost done. The new reporters have come in and are taking most of the stories, and I am not complaining. I don't think I'm much of a writer anyway.
